Fat-busting Walkout Exercise Tips and Guides

Previously, I’ve wrote about how walking helps you to improve your overall health and enable you to maintain an ideal weight and shed off a few pounds. This time, I will give a few guides and tips for a fat-busting walkout for those who choose to walk in order to lose some weight.

Brisk walking can shape the body up faster than running. Many fitness experts are in consensus to this idea because it really does work. And if you are looking to look and feel fit, there is nothing wrong with combining both of the exercises. Just remember not to overdo them. Do it when you see fit and feel comfortable for the exercises.

Brisk walking too helps in firming legs, tums, hips and bum, and with just a 30 minutes walk can burn up as much as 200 calories. For beginners looking for faster result, consider a daily workout with 10 minutes easy-pace, 30 to 60 minutes brisk walking and 5 minutes cooling down walking. Why should it be in this sequence? This is because if you speed too soon, your muscles will burn only ‘fast fix’ sugars and you are also making room for muscle crams. Start at an easier pace, and then swap faster and slower speeds constantly and you’ll burn off long-term fat reserves.

Tips for a better fat-busting walkout:

  • Speed up little by little. Imagine you have to catch a train or make a meeting in the next 10 minutes, or fix your sights on another walker ahead and try to overtake them.
  • This is basic among the most basics - get the right walking shoes. Finding a pair where its soles grip and absorb shock; heels, ankles and uppers should support; linings should cushion against rubbing are of vital importance. Boots are best for rough country where as trainers for hard city pavements. If possible find half a size larger than normal. This is to make room for comfy socks and hot, expanded feet.
  • Take to the hills. Give your bum and thighs a tougher workout by walking up slopes and hills. Experts say even a 3-5% incline boosts calorie burn by a third. Take quicker steps to raise your heart rate and make the going easier.
  • Did you know by using walking poles it can boost the heart rate, increase calorie spend and reduce stress on legs and feet by about 25%? All the more reasons why you should use one. Plant them and push off hard to boost upper body strength and lessen impact on hips, knees and ankles. This one is more suitable and applicable for hiking and rough country trainings.
  • Get a pedometer if you can. This is because by counting your steps, you can set on your speed and target goal. The faster you go, the more fat you’ll burn. You can time yourself with either a vigorous 120 steps per minute is around 3mph; and a seriously speedy 150 steps is 5mph (the fastest most people get before they start to run naturally). Stay walking, though, and you’ll actually burn more calories.
  • Take this chance to firm your tum by making them grin. How? Pull your stomach into your spine then up. At the same time, pull up your pelvic floor muscles and hold it for a few seconds. Do it continuously and as many times as you can. It can strengthen your abdominal muscles and tummy. You’ll improve your posture too along the way too.
  • Always drink more than you think you need. This is because dehydration will make you feel tired faster. Try drinking at least half a glass or four good glugs every 15 minutes if you can.

It’ll be quite a drill for the first week but you will see a gradual increase of stamina and metabolism after some time. You can decrease your workout gradually with the very least of 2 to 3 times a week in order to maintain current health, fitness level and body weight. Whatever reason you may have in mind, just don’t overdo the exercise too much. If you feel your heart beating too fast, try to slow down a bit and if you feel any throbbing chest pains or such, you should resign from the exercise once and for all.
