Food That Can Help You Sleep

Stress, daily problems and an over increasing standard of living today are the major reasons as to why many people having difficulty to sleep. Insomnia is not an unusual thing anymore and this problem has been making people resorting to immediate solution of sleeping pills. However, you are well to know that not much of goodness came from drugs in the long term…

Instead of going for the pills, why don’t you try natural foods that could help you doze off much easily :D

Banana - Contains melatonin, serotonin and magnesium

Chamomile tea - Loaded with calming effects that could reduce your physical and mental stress level.

Almonds - Loaded with magnesium and definitely good for the heart.

Oat - More goodness of oats. It stimulates production of melatonin in the body at night

Hot chocolate - Chocolate is a great source of anti-depressant agent. It calms the body too

I personally like hot chocolate and chamomile tea to indulge before going to sleep (at times when I had trouble sleeping especially) you won’t need it in a large amount and it won’t add much calories either.

Oh, I always knew magnesium makes you “relaxed” (as I’ve used it myself as powder) but didn’t know banana contained it!

    Thanks for sharing! :)

My favorite drink at night when Im having trouble relaxing and also going to sleep is hot milk with a few drops of real vanilla essence. It works for me and my mother too. I have increased magnesium into my diet now for the last few years and I have felt a bit difference in my stress levels. Thanks for the article I enjoyed it.

Hi all, thanks for visiting :D

Yup, a medium piece of banana actually contains about 27mg of magnesium. So it can also be one of your magnesium source from now on
As for me, hot chocolate & chamomile tea always do the trick. I drink it hot sometimes before going to sleep.

My Mum has been having trouble sleeping and I advised her to have some warm milk and she found that its seemed to help. I would have thought that having hot chocolate would have kept you awake because of the caffeine.

It’s true that chocolate has caffeine but the amount is very minimal, same as in a decaf cafe, which means it won’t keep you awake if you drink in moderate amount. One aspect of chocolate that I like is because it is calming, very much like green & chamomile tea and usually causes of insomnia is because our mind keeps on moving when we want it to stop. The next article will be on chocolate…gosh, I love chocolates! Thanks for visiting :D
