Knowing High Blood Pressure or Hypertension Treatments

Written in my previous post on hypertension or high blood pressure, statistically about 90% of hypertension cases are due to hereditary reason. Thus, meaning that if a person in your bloodline has a history of hypertension, chances that you will have it too is higher than those who doesn’t have any cases up their family tree line history. However, that is not a reason for you to say there’s no hope since you’ll get it one way or the other. That is so not true because with knowledge, discoveries and modern technologies, you are still able to avoid hypertension if you start preventing it in the early stage of your life.

If you’ve found out that you have a hypertension case in your family tree line, there’s a few things that you should consider integrating into your lifestyle as soon as possible in order to reduce he risk of getting hypertension or high blood pressure yourself. You could call it a lifestyle modification plan.

Things to do to reduce the risk of getting hypertension or high blood pressure.

.

i. To cut your salt intake in your daily life

Studies show that there’s a high correlation between a person’s sodium intake and blood pressure, meaning by taking more sodium in your daily diet will raise your blood pressure and vice versa. By cutting your salt intake below the current recommendation of 100 mmol per day is effective in lowering blood pressure by about 5 to 10 mmHg. However, this should be accompanied by healthy eating plans in order to be of full effect.

ii. Incorporate healthy eating plans in your life

Yes, cutting salt off your diet is not the only solution. You’ve got to reduce saturated fats as well. This will work out best for the next point too. Eat more vegetables, whole grain, fish, and non-fat dairy products, or just opt for good fats and oil sources. Limit your caffeine and alcohol intake to once to twice a day, but no more than that. It’ll be even better if you’re able to stop the intake once and for all. Supplement such as Potassium is able to help prevent and control high blood pressure.

iii. Maintaining healthy weight at all times

Logically, if you’re practicing healthy eating plans, you’re able to maintain an ideal weight at all times. However, if you’re already at the excessive weight borderline or obese, you would have to do something to shed the weight off. Extra weight gives pressure to your body and thus, increasing blood pressure, making your heart work harder and burden the bones. Be consistent in exercising and practicing healthy eating habits.

iv. Quit smoking

Smoking will cause an immediate raise in blood pressure, which is partly due to the constricting of blood vessels - smoking symptom. Since it contains nicotine that can cause addiction to it, constant smoking habit will eventually make it hard to maintain an ideal blood pressure.

v.  Control and reduce your daily stress

In the current world we live in, this is perhaps the hardest thing to do, but not impossible. Try to reduce and avoid stress factor in your life as much as possible. It may not entirely evade the problem, but at least it could lessen the risk.

For those who are already with high blood pressure problem, you may have to practice everything that is written above together with drug therapy for hypertension.

vi. Continue Your medication

It is true, patients of hypertension rely a lot to prescribed medication. There are actually many different types of medication available for high blood pressure patients, therefore it is advisable for you to do a medical check-up about once in two to three months to see if there’s a need of medication change, aside from getting your current hypertension report. For those with serious cases, it takes more monitoring work and frequent visit to your physician.

It is common for a patient to stop taking medication after some time as some older forms of medication commonly causes impotence. However, you should only stop when it is advisable, that is the reason why you have to visit your doctor frequently enough. Remember that stopping your medication could predispose you to stroke, heart and kidney failure. The prevention of complications is the main aim of the treatment of hypertension. The concept of reserves is highly applicable here.

High blood pressure, heart attack and stroke are preventable diseases, and the root cause is improper diet and poor lifestyle. The cause of high blood pressure for most people is clogged arteries. Clogged arteries come from unhealthy diet and lifestyle. While anyone can develop high blood pressure, the following factors increase the risk of hypertension:

•Overweight or obesity—eating too much food

    •Physically inactive—little or no exercise

    •High salt consumption

•Low calcium, magnesium and potassium levels due to inadequate consumption of fruits and vegetables

    •Excessive alcohol consumption

    •Diabetes”

If you follow a healthy eating regimen with a diet rich in nutritious vegetables and fruits, coupled with lifestyle changes that include good nutrition, hydration, regular exercise, stress management, relaxation and positive motivation, you can prevent many diseases, and even reverse a degenerative medical condition.

Vegetable and fruit juicing helps to reduced high cholesterol, dissolves clogged arteries, reduces the risk of heart attack, reduces blood pressure, dissolves kidney stones, cleanses liver, prevents cancers, increases energy and provides many other health benefits.
